Default ABS question

It's time for new front brake pads for my 04 XL7. Someone from another car forum told me if you have ABS, it's best to leave brake work to a trained technician, unless you are one yourself. But if it's just a simple pad change on both front sides, it should be like all other front brake pad changes, right?

I thought the only time to take the ABS into consideration is if you're changing the brake fluid and/or rear brake work as well as front.
