XL7 2008 - Key stuck in ignition

XL7 2008 - Key stuck in ignition
Hi there,
My local Suzuki dealer has had the car for a week now and they can't figure it out. Here's the problem:
- key stuck in ignition
- you can start the engine, you can shut it down too, but the key won't come out
- please don't suggest basic stuff like making sure it's on Park - we tried all that
- the dealer even changed the Solenoid (is that the cylinder?), to no avail
- I asked them to remove the entire cylinder and change the keys, he says that it's what he did by changing the solenoid but it doesn't make sense to me because when he had done that a few days ago he told me that I'd be using the same keys (??).
He now says that Suzuki is on the case and that they are suggesting a major electrical problem in the car.
Does that make any sense to you ?

Thank you for your reply. As I stated in my subject, it's a 2008. They finally got to fix it - after TWO weeks !! - and it had to do with the transmission. For some reason it wasn't going all the way into Park mode, thus blocking the key from getting out. They fixed it under warranty. Now the less amusing part is that they told me by brakes and pads were finished.
Do you know where I could find a good deal on good quality brakes and pads in Canada? I heard that you can find some amazing deals online.

Sounds frustrating! I'm surprised the suzuki dealership is even having problems! I wish I had a solution for you, but I just wanted to say good luck, hope they get it figured out soon. What year is it?

It's really annoying when you have a reasonably new car and it doesn't work properly. These kind of problems on Suzuki Parts are not very frequent at all. Hope it was just bad lucky and once it is fixed your car run nicely and smoothie. I'm from Australia and I don't know where you can find a good deal on Suzuki Services or parts in Canada, but I wish best of lucky for you

There is nothing other than the key cylinder itself that will keep the key from turning. A bad brake light fuse or battery can keep the shifter from coming out of park. There is anti theft built into the key cylinder but if you drove the car in then that should not be a issue. If the antitheft is truly active then the car has to be towed to a Suzuki dealer to be repaired. I seriously doubt any other shop would have the scan tool to get into the computer system of the car.
