Default Choking Out My GS750....

Hey guys, I just finished the valves on my 1977 GS750 and I've triple checked that they're all in spec now. Anyways, when I bought the bike it had pod filters and I had read that the bike runs terrible with those so I bought a stock airbox and put a new uni filter in it. I installed it all the right way, using the manual as my guide.

Now, before I did the valves and had the pod filters my bike ran fairly well. Like you could tell it wasn't running on all 4 cylinders and it had low compression (due to the valves all having no gap), but it ran. Once I finished the valves I turned it on before adding the filter to make sure it ran well, which it did. So I proceeded to install the stock filter in replacement of the pods. Now it won't rev over 3-4k rpm. I pulled the side covers off while it was running and immediately I could hear a difference in the way the engine ran. It runs fine without the covers, but that's cause it bypasses the actual filter. I tried adjusting all the carbs but nothing I did seemed to do any help with the filter installed.

I'm at a complete loss with what this could be. Any suggestions will help. I need this bike running cause I'm selling my car soon for a truck and I'm gonna need the transportation while I'm in between vehicles.

Thanks guys!
