Default crud on exhausr pipes

I made the mistake of wiping my exhaust pipes with a towel before they were cool enough. I now have residue or 'crud' on one of them. What is the best way to remove this crud? My bike is a 2007 S50.

I did the same, used warm water + SOS pad. It did not scratch the pipes or otherwise cause problems.

bout 2 months ago i managed to get a plastic bag stuck to my hot pipes but didnt see it till the next day-i used sos pad and a heat gun to get it hot enough to rub it off then after it cooled i used chrome polish to shine it up-may work for u as well.[:-]
