Default VITARA - NO POWER

My VITARA is a 1994 1.6 fuel injection model.
For some time it has often been difficult to start and has had very little power, particularly when cold.
It is slow going uphill, but is fine on the flat.

There is no noticeable smoke from the exhaust, it ticks over pretty well and I've checked the ignition and fuel filter - OK.

Advice appreciated!

You probably need a new ignition switch and soon or it will get harder and harder to start until it won't. (Same with my geo, i have to change some geo tracker parts)

I'd check the catalytic converter- might be clogged. U can do a crude test by attaching a vacuum gauge and running the motor at fast idle (1500- 1800 or so RPM) and watch the vacuum gauge. If you start losing vacuum after about 30 seconds or so take it to a muffler shop and have it checked by more accurate means.
