I have a 2002 katana 600 that starts in neutral. When I placed it into gear it dies or stalls. I bought it used because of this problem from a guy who was in school and my reserve unit. He is getting deployed to help pay for he's schooling. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does it have a side stand safety switch and does it die as soon as you put it in gear or when clutch is engaged/released?
is clutch indeed free wheeling in neutral or is gear always engaged? clutch not releasing?
