Default Changing gear

Hi Guys recently returned to riding after a 20 year gap. I picked up my new C50 a few weeks back and I’m slowly breaking it in. Question - the manual states to increase speed when changing down a gear! What / how does this mean ?

Now that seems to make sense, and its what I instinctively do. Tell me though why is it important to do this?

Match clutch and engine speeds,in a car called double clutching.smoother up and downshifts, quicker and more response...
Idle engine and slam gear down and you could take a high side spill...rear tire lock up..
