Default 1975 GT550 reviving

Hi all, I have a 1975 GT550M sitting 25+ years with clutch cover off. It was my father inlaws and was about to get rid for parts but the more I looked at it, the more interested I became. I'll give a brief run down.
Ordered a key from ebay still waiting, after lubricating cylinders the engine spins nice, cleaned carburators they seem ok now. Chain is rusted solid will cut that off, front brake cylinder dry and frozen, Main concern is clutch. I found the clutch parts in a box everthing seems to be there a bit corroded. This is the old pre-borg warner clutch with the 3 bearing main drive. My question is, I have the main drive strater clutch gear seperate from the that rusty collar on the shaft in center of picture. should the gear be press fit onto that collar? are they both supposed to come off together?. I read somewhere that people sometimes will tac weld these pcs together because of the problematic design. Any advice what it takes (besides patience) to get this clutch system operational again? Part sources?
