I have just bought an 06 RMZ 450 and I rode it for the day yesterday in the mountains and I ran into some issues that I am looking for answers too. While riding the bike the kickstarter would go into the engaged position and make a horrible grinding noise until I would physically put it back into its normal storing position. It did this a couple of times but only seemed to happen only on flat ground while cruzing. Then the other issue is that it smokes real bad all the time while ridding. I really would like to set this bike up for mountain riding and longevitiy. I think the previous owner raced it and I'm sure it needs some work done to it. I would like to make the repairs before something really major goes wrong. Then twords the end of my trip the bike had a horrible squeling noise like the bearrings were rolling? Does anyone have any answers for these issues?? Thanks

 

The kickstarter is probably a broke or worn spring but the others.......... New piston and ring may be needed and where is the squealing coming from? Sucks if it is in the crankcase but hopefully just a wheel bearing.

 

i recently bought a blown 2005 RMZ 450..i have been considering to rebuild the motor or buy a new one..i'm in need of a crank case, crank shaft, cylinder, piston. i also was considering buying a new 2nd hand motor..my question is..can the 2008 motor fit in the 2005-2007 frame without any adjustments to the bolt up line up?

 

I'm not sure what to do with a complete 09 RMZ 450 bottom end - it was used in one of our bikes and it needs a bottom end crank bearing . The clutch and transmission are good . Also have a like new complete front wheel with tire and a set of 2011 forks that have never been used . Any suggestions besides lo ball Craig's list ?
