IMPROVING GAS MILEAGE
Ok im wondering about some things i could do to improve my gas mileage on my 2005 Aerio sedan, it has 39k miles on it..get about 22-26 miles per gallon...first of all what size tank does it have? I drive to asheville several times a week to see my girlfriend, its about 60 miles roughly...and 60 coming back...using nearly a half a tank of gas..i always fill it up at half a tank....it also has 14 inch tires...and is completely stock...any tips on what i could do to improve the mileage a little???
possibly installing k & n air filter . some ppl have said that does help. also using a synthetic oil like mobil one. inflating the tires slightly higher ( not too much ) those are some easy helps. good luck
On a related note, I have purchased a new SX4 AWD, and have been pretty disappointed with the gas mileage so far. I have 1500 miles on it and am averaging only 21.5 MPG with mostly highway and not-so-much stop and go driving. The Suzuki Service Manager tells me to wait until I have about 3000 miles on the car for break-in purposes, but I would like to know if this is my specific car problem, or if there are other folks out there with low mileage numbers at the beginning of their ownership. He did say to change the oil at 3000 miles and use a mix of synthetic and non-synthetic, then go all synthetic on the next scheduled oil change. This is so that the rings set properly. Any user experiences are welcome!
