1998 Intruder VS800GL Clutch not engaging
My 1998 Intruder VS800GL has problems where the clutch either doesn't engage or is barely engaged with lots of slippage. Essentially I can let the clutch handle all the way out but it barely engages the clutch. The quick remedy to the problem is to bleed the hydraulic line and relieve the pressure on the slave cylinder which allows the clutch to engage, but of course, that means I have to constantly top off my clutch fluid.
I know that the clutch pad and assembly themselves are good, as are the hydraulic lines that run from the master cylinder to the slave cylinder; therefore I know the problem is with the master cylinder itself. Has anyone else had this problem and knows what solved it? I am going to do a full deconstruction of the master cylinder in a few days to try and see if there is something blocking the fluid from re-entering the reservoir, but I really don't want to replace the whole unit because OEM parts for that could cost upwards of $350.
Thanks!
