Default Engine Stalls (engine j20a ) 2005)

Hello fellow Suzuki enthusiasts,

I’m still dealing with the same issue. I’ve been working with a mechanic, going over everything we’ve done so far, but we still haven’t solved the problem.

Problem:
After a few minutes of running, the engine suddenly starts to fail—both while driving and at idle. When driving at low RPMs, the throttle doesn’t respond, the engine stalls, and it won’t start again for about 15–20 minutes.
At idle, if we leave it running for around 20–30 minutes, it eventually stalls as well.

What has been done so far:
  1. Replaced the camshaft position sensor
  2. Cleaned the throttle body and replaced the MAF sensor
  3. Cleaned and later disabled the EGR valve
  4. Replaced the crankshaft position sensor (still to be verified because it seems the mechanic never actually changed it)
  5. Disabled the mass air flow meter
  6. Replaced the fuel pump / fuel sender unit
After all this, the engine still has the same problem.
In the last test, we left it idling and it stalled after 20 minutes.
The OBD reader showed a crankshaft position sensor error.
The new mechanic checked and found that this sensor has a cable that looks very old—so step 4 was never really done (apparently I was lied to by the previous workshop, may those thieves get what they deserve one day).

This sensor is located in a very hard-to-reach area of the engine; according to my new mechanic, the gearbox has to be removed to access it. I’m looking for information in case someone knows a cheaper way to reach the sensor without taking the gearbox out.

Many thanks to everyone for your help,
Best regards.
