Default 1977 GS750 Head Swap

Hey guys, I've got an old GS750 that isn't running too great. As far as I can tell I just need to clean out the carbs and make sure timing and valve clearance is good. But I did just notice I've got a small leak out of the head and base gaskets. Just for kicks and gigs I figured I'll just do a whole top end rebuild if I've gotta take the top end apart anyways. Then it got me thinking about how the models after the 75-79s had 4 valves rather than 2 valves. I've read that all these engines are almost identical to mounting but I'm not wanting to swap an engine out. Running engines aren't cheap. So I was wondering if there's a way I can swap an 80s GS750 head onto my 77 GS750? I have access to a shop for boring out cylinders if I need to do any of that stuff, so all the tools and work is easy and free for me to do myself. If any of you have any experience with this it'd be helpful. Thanks!
