Default stripped oil drain hole

So I bought a 2001 gsxr 6 and its leaking oil very slowly, upon inspection I noticed that the hole that drain plug goes into is minorly stripped. I talked to the guy that sold it to me, a friend, and he said that he had tried to loosen it while actually tightening it past its point of holding. I want to know what the best course of action would be to remedy the problem.

right but its not the actual bolt that is stripped its the threading on the oil pan. I'm thinking the best course of action would be to buy a new oil pan and just be done with it. Of course there is always having it re-threaded but i'm wary of solid mechanic shops in the area and I have no basis of comparison for pricing either.

ive been a mechanic for a while and ive encountered stripped oil plug holes quite frequently, i found the best method is to drill the hole to a bigger size and tap it to fit a different plug. ( keep in mind that metal shavings will be flying around and could end up inside of the oil pan, to prevent this from happening try and place a magnet on 2 sides of the hole you are drilling so they wont end up inside) your other option is, they do make self tapping oil plugs, they generaly work well depending on how bad the hole is stripped!
