Fuel Pump Issue
I bought my 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara Luxury 2.7L brand new in 06. It's been one of the best automobiles I've ever owned in terms of reliability. Last year it hit 263,000 miles and the engine puked because my wife doesn't pay attention to anything but the radio! It overheated because the water pump seized breaking the serpentine belt as well. I replaced the engine with a 42,000 mile engine from a wrecked Suzuki that was hit in the rear by a dump truck. The car has been running 100% since I installed the new engine.
The other day I was driving to the store and it just shut off. I tested the fuel rail for pressure and there was nothing. With 270,000 on the car now after engine replacement, I just assumed the fuel pump out lived it's life and replaced it as a whole assembly. Thinking the problem was solved, I attempted to start the car however, NADA! I checked all the fuses under the dash and in the engine compartment........all good. Searched for broken wires, took the entire fuse panel in the engine compartment apart and tested the circuits. The fuel pump circuit has no juice to it while every other circuit is live. I can not find an emergency fuel shut off on it anywhere........under the dash, in the kick panels, and not in the rear panels. I'm thinking anti theft device now??? I know if someone steals the car without the FOB it is supposed to disable and I'm assuming that might be one way in which it might disable itself??? I'm pulling my hair out with this thing.........no codes and nothing seems to be the cause within circuitry.
Has anyone experienced this issue and if so, what was the cause? Can I unplug or disable the anti theft transponder by just unplugging it altogether? I don't use the FOB because it hasn't worked for quite some time however, with the key in the ignition, it doesn't seem to matter and I've been driving it that way for at least the past 5 years or so.
Any suggestions regarding this issue would be greatly appreciated. Found numerous articles online but no solutions regarding the repair. I'm 68 years old and have been turning wrenches since I was out of diapers as my father was a master mechanic.......... Thanks
