Default 89 rmx 250 carb problem

Hopefully someone can help me. I can usually figure stuff out, but this one has me beating my head against the wall. On my 89 RMX 250 I am having a problem where my carb is dumping fuel out the bowl overflow vent. I took everything apart and cleaned it thinking my needle valve was stuck. Didn't work. I took it apart again and checked the diagram in my maintainence book against the carb and everything is in place. Any ideas?
Thanks

Sounds like the float may be bad (filled with gas so it doesn't float).
Hope this helps.
